Assassin’s Creed titles have already tempted us with multiplayer modes in the past, but have never offered a true cooperative mode, even when they let us choose our protagonist from two options. Assassin’s Creed Shadows could be the ideal episode to introduce such a feature, given that both Noae and Yasuke will be playable and will work together. Ubisoft has not confirmed this, but insider Tom Henderson claims that such a mode is well and truly in the works.
A Journey through Japan as a Duo
On the Insider Gaming website, Tom Henderson reports that Assassin’s Creed Shadows does indeed have a cooperative mode in development, currently called “League”. This would enable two people to embody Naoe and Yasuke on the battlefield at the same time, to better tackle the game’s various missions. It’s not yet clear whether this will be a local (which would be surprising) or an online mode only ( which would probably be the case).
That’s all we’ve learned from insider gaming about this mode, although Tom does make it clear that it was in development before the game’s postponement, and that it’s not the cause of the delay either. This means that this mode was not supposed to be released at launch, but afterwards through an update. However, despite Henderson’s history, which is sometimes difficult to sort out, we’ll take this matter with serious reservations.
