CD Projekt Red is now one of the most transparent studios regarding the progress of its projects, if only to reassure its investors since the chaotic launch of Cyberpunk 2077. Every quarter, the Polish team shares a few details about what’s currently in the works at CD Project Red, including the game codenamed Project Polaris, which refers to the new The Witcher game that’s supposed to be the starting point of a trilogy. The project is progressing well, having completed its pre-production phase on schedule.

In its latest financial report, CD Projekt Red reviewed its finances, which are in good shape thanks to the durability of Cyberpunk 2077. This is an opportunity to proudly declare to the world that the game has sold 30 million copies, something that seemed uncertain at the title’s launch (despite very high sales figures during the first month on the market). CD Projekt Red can also celebrate the sale of 8 million copies of the Phantom Liberty DLC, making a significant contribution to the studio’s growing profits.

For the rest of us, we’re more interested in knowing that the team in charge of Project Polaris is making good, even excellent, progress. In the previous review, the studio indicated that the pre-production phase was coming to an end, and that the game would soon enter the production phase, a very important step. It’s now a done deal, according to CD Projekt Co-CEO Michał Nowakowski:

“ I’m proud to confirm that several weeks ago the Polaris team wrapped up preproduction and moved on to full-scale production – the most intensive phase of development. We are very pleased with our progress on this project and I want to thank our team for their dedication. ”

The project is progressing well, and its arrival in the production phase means we can look forward to a few announcements in the next few months, even if the title’s release is certainly still a few years away.
