There’s been a lot of buzz about a potential PlayStation Showcase to be held on December 3, i.e. tomorrow. Why is this? Quite simply because the latest PS5 Pro advertisement contained a reference to this date, but this nod was clearly related to the brand’s anniversary only. Indeed, PlayStation celebrates its 30th birthday on this date, marking the release of the first PlayStation. And since December 3 is already here in some parts of the world, it’s already time to celebrate.
Return to the PS1 Era
For the time being, this is just a “tribute” video to open this 30th anniversary, without a new showcase. A small thank-you to the community, it briefly retraces the history of the iconic titles that made PlayStation consoles such a success, whether we’re talking about games published by PlayStation Studios or series whose image is often associated with PlayStation.
It’s worth noting that the whole thing ends with a sequence from Bloodborne, just to rub salt in the wounds of the fans waiting for a remaster that will never happen (because no one dares to believe that this is a hint).
As part of this anniversary, you can also get a nice surprise when you turn on your PS5. If it’s up to date, you may be asked to restart it in order to witness a special sequence, with a setting unique to this 30th anniversary that’s being set up for a limited time.
