Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game for the ages, even a year after its release. Thanks to regular updates, Larian’s RPG has managed to retain its community over the long term, and the arrival of patch 7 has brought in even more people. This patch aimed to fix several problems while adding new content (especially for the meanest avatars), but most importantly it enabled the official integration of mods, with tools giving access to numerous possibilities. The success of this feature has been overwhelming.

Baldur’s Gate 3 mods already existed before the official integration of mod support into the game, but the arrival of patch 7 has accelerated the practice even further. Larian reports that since the release of this update, over 50 million mods have been downloaded for Baldur’s Gate 3.

The studio reveals this figure in a humorous tweet, which indicates that 10,000 of these downloads are related to a mod that allows users to rename Withers to “Bone Daddy”.

For several weeks now, this patch has also been available on console versions of the game, although compatibility of these mods on these platforms is a little slower than on PC.
