So the Xbox version was delayed by technical problems that Game Science was unable to resolve before launch, at least according to the studio’s own statement. Is Black Myth Wukong a temporary PS5 exclusive? That’s the question several journalists have been asking, including Paul Tassi from Forbes magazine, who investigated the matter. According to one of his sources, the reason why the Xbox version was not available at the game’s launch was actually linked to an exclusivity contract with Sony, and had nothing to do with a technical problem. This was later confirmed by IGN, who also had information pointing in this direction.
Meanwhile, Jeff Grubb claims that Sony never paid for exclusivity. This statement is also made by “Insider” Shpeshal_Nick (although he is less reliable than the other sources mentioned above). After all, if Sony had paid for temporary exclusivity, we might have expected to see a more substantial advertising campaign on its side. But Paul Tassi claims that this exclusivity deal would have been negotiated without all the “marketing” angle usually involved in such deals.
