As announced a few days ago, Randy Pitchford took to the stage to present the first official gameplay for Borderlands 4. After being revealed at Gamescom 2024 with a quick teaser, it’s time to see what this new opus has up its sleeve.

2K and Gearbox Software have finally revealed the highly-anticipated Borderlands 4 with a trailer that introduces The Timekeeper, a ruthless dictator who exercises absolute control over the masses, reigning in Kairos, the deadliest planet in the Borderlands universe. But his perfect reign crumbles when a disaster with global consequences unleashes a wave of chaos, setting the stage for the series’ defining anarchy.

In the brand new world of Kairos, we’ll play as a new team of Ark Hunters, equipped with billions of different weapons and deadly enemies. According to Gearbox, we’ll be able to design unique builds with the most diverse skill trees in the series, and dive into the most extensive loot hunt ever seen in a Borderlands.

Exploration is bound to get a major facelift, with more fluid navigation, dynamic events, and a vehicle that can be summoned almost anywhere. The title will still be playable solo or in co-op for up to 4 players. Randy Pitchford, Gearbox CEO, was very enthusiastic:

” Borderlands 4 is about freedom and being badass. This is by far the biggest and most insane world we’ve ever made – it’s overloaded with jerkface ratnozzle scrote monsters that need to be put down with the most over-the-top hardcore nuts op guns and loot in any game ever. Oh, and the story also seriously kicks ass! ”

Borderlands 4 will be available in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
