Hidetaka Miyazaki has already mentioned that FromSoftware is working on several projects in different genres. But it was not exactly expected that we would hear about Elden Ring again for a new project, just a few months after the release of the massive Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. And yet, Elden Ring Nightreign has been announced for 2025, a slightly different experience from the base game that will take us on a new journey through the Land Between.
Rightfully Eligible for GOTY 2025
If you’re still not satisfied with one of the greatest games in the past few years, then you’ll probably want to return to the hostile lands of Elden Ring with this multiplayer- and survival-oriented standalone. This means that this time around, you don’t need to have already made progress in the base game to be able to start this one.
In this Elden Ring Nightreign, you’ll have to team up with up to two other players to survive 3 full days in the Land Between against hordes of enemies eager to finish you off. And the main thing to note, from the images, is the increased mobility and more vertical movement.
You’ll be able to rise and glide thanks to flying creatures, and you’ll even be able to climb walls and pull yourself up onto ledges. The range of movement will also be expanded by the possibility of choosing between different heroes with unique skills and techniques.
Elden Ring Nightreign obviously still has a lot under its hood, and there’s no doubt that it will be releasing more news and surprises between now and its release next year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
