The Witcher 4 Is Confirmed with an Impressive First Trailer, Ciri Is Back in Action

The Witcher 4

Well, that’s one way to kick off the Game Awards. For the 10th edition of the ceremony, Geoff Keighley didn’t do anything halfway. He went to the Polish studio CD Projekt Red to see how the next Witcher game was progressing. We’d heard that it was going into full production a few days ago, and we couldn’t wait any longer to see the first images, even if we’re still just on a note of intent here. But it’s enough to carry us away.

The trailer is a real blast. Although it doesn’t really tell us what the game is going to look like, except that it’s the result we’re aiming for with the help of the Unreal Engine 5, at least we know who we’re going to be playing. And it turns out to be Ciri, as some theories have suggested. Geralt’s apprentice is now an experienced witcher, with her own missions.

Here, we can see that Ciri is a little more mature, her face marked by the passing of time. And what about Geralt? Well, we’ll leave you to imagine what you want, but Doug Cockle’s voice echoes at the very end of this video is a way of saying that the character will always be present, one way or another.

At the same time, we learn that this next opus will simply be called The Witcher 4. CD Projekt Red has confirmed the idea of a new trilogy, but it’s not starting from scratch.

So, when will The Witcher 4 be released? That’s the big question. What’s certain is that it won’t be available in 2025, but much later. Late 2026? Who knows? For the time being, we’ll leave the Polish studio to do its thing, with great anticipation.
