Following the disappointing launch of Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft was forced to act quickly to prevent Assassin’s Creed Shadows from suffering the same fate. This is why it was decided that the game would finally be released at the beginning of 2025 instead of this November, allowing enough time to finalize the game as much as possible while also offering a Steam version that is more than essential today.
The publisher has also revised its plans concerning the three-day early access it was planning to implement, in addition to its DLC policy. All these changes have made the Collector’s Edition a little pointless, which is why Ubisoft has decided to lower its price.
Less Content for a Less Expensive Price
With no early access or Season Pass in the pipeline for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the Collector’s Edition has no real justification for being priced at full price. The publisher has even decided to stop pre-orders for this version until the various changes have been made.
IGN reported that Ubisoft had declared on its Discord server that the $279.99 price tag was no longer relevant. Without the bonuses that have been removed, the Collector’s Edition should now be priced at $229.99, a $50 reduction.
For the rest, the contents of the edition should remain the same, although Ubisoft warns that “certain design elements may change”. In any case, we imagine that the publisher has been careful to exclude one of the artworks that caused controversy, in which we could see the unauthorized use of a flag from a Japanese historical reenactment group. As a reminder, this edition ( shown below as it was announced a few months ago ) will contain a Naoe & Yasuke figurine, a life-size Naoe’s katana tsuba, an artbook, and a world map, plus other items.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series starting February 14, 2025.
