Already teased a few months ago, Mafia: The Old Country has decided to reappear at the Game Awards. The title will be developed by Hangar 13 again, creators of a disappointing Mafia 3 and a more convincing Mafia: Definitive Edition. And for the time being, this prequel is still too timid, while offering an approximate, and not so distant, release window.
The Origins of Organized Crime in Sicily
This first video takes us on a journey to Sicily back in the 1900s. The game, as shown in this very first trailer, features Enzo. Rescued from a childhood spent working in the sulphur mines of Sicily, our protagonist joins the criminal family of Don Torrisi, to whom he swears an oath of loyalty to make a better life for himself.
Much like the franchise’s first installment, Mafia: The Old Country will take us on a much more story-driven, linear journey. As we can see from the trailer, you’ll certainly be able to get around on horseback, just like in those good old vehicles from the early 20th century.
This prequel will also feature gunfights, hand-to-hand combat, and infiltration. In any case, we can’t wait to get our hands on this new opus of the franchise, which will not only introduce us to new characters, but also offer us a love letter to old-school mafia stories.
Mafia: The Old Country will be officially released in summer 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
