Until now, Ubisoft had not shared any official statistics concerning the launch of Star Wars Outlaws. Therefore, it seemed that the game had not lived up to expectations, and this was confirmed today by Yves Guillemot’s company. A press release was issued to announce major changes to Ubisoft’s fiscal year targets, with the postponement of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This delay is prompted by the launch of Star Wars Outlaws, which Ubisoft will try to compensate for.

Between technical problems and a busy schedule, the publisher’s latest release didn’t achieve a very impressive launch, forcing the company to revise its financial targets for the second quarter of its fiscal year. Ubisoft already admits that Star Wars Outlaws has not lived up to expectations: “Initial Star Wars Outlaws sales were softer than expected.

To deal with this situation, the development team is working on several updates, some of which have already been released, to correct flaws widely identified by critics and players alike (such as the first infiltration missions). This is just the first step towards winning back public opinion, as the game now needs to appeal to a wider audience. And to achieve this, Ubisoft has decided to release Star Wars Outlaws on Steam starting November 21:

Ubisoft’s development teams are currently fully mobilized to swiftly implement a series of updates to polish and improve the player experience in order to engage a large audience during the holiday season to position Star Wars Outlaws as a strong long-term performer. The game will be available on Steam on November 21. “

Ubisoft press release

With Assassin’s Creed Shadows not being released this November, this Steam version will have a little more room to shine on Valve’s platform. But to assume that this will be enough to make up for the game’s disappointing launch might be overstating the case.

Star Wars Outlaws is available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. Check out our full review of the game for more details.
