The next entry in Konami’s saga between (probably) two Master Collection installments, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater continues to reveal new images, even though we still don’t know when it will be released. MGS 3 remake reveals a story trailer at the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2024 Broadcast. While it won’t tell fans much, we can at least see the appearance of the game’s characters and measure a few graphical improvements.

Reliving the past in HD
After a preview promising a truly faithful remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater decides to show us another video. We had already seen what Snake looked like, of course, but there were also Major Zero, Para-Medic, and The Boss.
The other character models aroused the curiosity of anyone still familiar with the PS2 version, and here are a few more.
This video reveals more details about the faces and appearances of Sokolov, Colonel Volgin, Ocelot, and Eva. We get a glimpse of these characters in a few striking cutscenes, with a few lines between Snake and The Boss.
These images serve as a reminder of just how faithful the production will be to the original, frame by frame. We also got a peek at the Shagohod, the Cold War version of Metal Gear.
Old School or New School?
A few hours later, Metal Gear – production hotline panel allowed us to see the very first minutes of the game. This was an opportunity to get a glimpse of the gameplay refinements, in addition to the overall visual quality. Some of these elements have already been mentioned in recent previews, but it’s worth recapping them here.
Of course, you’ll have the option of playing in New Style or Legacy Style mode. The choice affects whether to play with the free camera and third-person shooter mode, or to enjoy an “old-school” display, with a green image filter and semi-fixed camera. We also note the addition of small cinematic transitions, like when Snake picks up his bag stuck in a tree.
As for the Codec, we can still skip all or part of a conversation, except that here we can resume the dialogue anytime. This is something you couldn’t do in the old days, when skipping a line “cancel” the dubbing for the rest of the conversation. There’s also a quick menu overlay for quick access to radio frequencies. Plus the ability to pause cutscenes (yes, everything is available).
Modern Snake
In terms of gameplay, the development team has added a compass as a tool that can be equipped from the Objects menu. Ideal for keeping track of the main objective without adding a nasty marker overlay. Camouflage management has also evolved slightly, with the index increasing once the camouflage has been made dirty.
We hope that the logic won’t be “stupidly” applied to light camouflage, but in any case, it’s still possible to clean up by changing your outfit. What’s more, a quick menu with a Foxhound transition lets you make dynamic changes between camouflage elements or combinations, without having to go through the menu. A real blessing.
Last but not least, a photo mode is also included, and new collectibles can be found throughout the game. Kerotans, the singing frogs, are already present in the game.
We can well imagine that other little surprises are still to be discovered, and we remind you that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will arrive at an unknown date on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.
