Sony Raised Horizon Zero Dawn’s Price on PS4 Following the Remaster Announcement

At Sony, small budgets are not an option these days. Since the focus is on maximizing profits from popular licenses, Horizon Zero Dawn will be getting a remaster that few were asking for. And while there’s no argument that Nixxes and Guerilla Games haven’t done a good job on this remaster (which seems to be quite successful), its necessity is still questionable. At least the PS4 version is being upgraded at a fairly low price, which is a good gesture towards the consumer. But it’s less of a gesture when you realize that Sony is no longer selling the game at the same price.

If you were planning to buy the PS4 version of Horizon Zero Dawn and then upgrade to save money, forget it. For a long time, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition was available for purchase on the PlayStation Store for $19.99, the same price as all the games in the PlayStation Hits range. But since the announcement of the remaster, Horizon Zero Dawn’s price has been increased to $39.99 on PlayStation Store, for both the base game and the DLC.

By doing so, Sony wants to prevent new customers from buying the $19.99 edition + the $9.99 upgrade, which would mean getting Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered for just $29.99 instead of the $49.99 price tag. Smart.

Fortunately, if you want to save money, you can always turn to the game’s physical edition, which can also be upgraded, and which is not entitled to this sudden price spike. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will be available starting October 31 on PS5 and PC.
