Kazunori Kadoi, co-director of Resident Evil 4 Remake, revealed that he didn’t want to know about the game initially. What was the reason? Well, he explained it in a recent interview.

While the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 were obviously a logical step for its developers, the Resident Evil 4 Remake project may have never been developed.

Resident Evil 4 Remake, it wasn’t a sure bet…

Game Informer’s coverage of Resident Evil 4 Remake is definitely extremely informative. We could enjoy a long gameplay video with a more stressful atmosphere than the original, with the village at night and the monsters’ mutations, and learn precious details about this new version.

The teams have promised that Ashley should be more independent and therefore less imposing. Those who discovered this game in 2005 on Gamecube will be on familiar ground, even if the complete graphic remake will change the scenery completely. Not to mention the countless changes such as the removal of QTEs, the addition of side quests to push back the exploration etc.

But Resident Evil 4 Remake could have stayed in Capcom’s suggestion box. In an interview, Kazunori Kadoi – the game’s co-director – revealed that the title being considered a masterpiece, it was risky to try to retouch it. In fact, he didn’t even want to develop it.

“Among the RE series and even games in general, the original RE4 has become a legend,” Ampo says. “I knew that it would be difficult to successfully remake it, and if we made one mistake with any updates we made, we would anger its fans.”

“When I first heard about remaking RE4, my first impression was that since the original is a masterpiece, a remake would be difficult,” adds Kadoi. “So I didn’t want to do it.”
