Released on October 5, Assassin’s Creed Mirage marks a return to its roots for a license that has already enjoyed 15 years of success for Ubisoft. The upcoming update promises to be a great success, as it adds a number of features beloved by many gamers, the ability to restart a game in New Game+, as well as the diabolical Permadeath mode. We tell you all you need to know about these upcoming additions.

Last night, we found out about the upcoming arrival of this update, highly anticipated by the license’s fans, via an official announcement on the X social network. In fact, during this update, the traditional New Game+ mode (now present in almost all major productions) will be added, allowing Baghdad players to replay the adventure from the beginning, (normally) retaining all their weapons, outfits, and skills, while facing slightly more challenging enemies.

But that’s not all: as you’ve seen, the developers will also be offering us the infamous Permadeath mode, also known as Final Death, which, as its name suggests, will force you to restart the adventure from the beginning if you die even once during your journey, available on all difficulty levels.

This mode is undoubtedly reserved for the most seasoned and daring players (or those who simply have the time). These additions take nothing away from anyone, quite the contrary, and should be made available in a free update starting in December, with an announcement perhaps during some industry-wide ceremony?

This should give a new boost to this French production (the main studio being based in Bordeaux, cocorico), which has achieved good figures for its start-up in the charts, quite simply achieving the best launch for a game from the firm since the launch of the current generation. With no nominations for the Game Awards, to be held on the night of December 7-8, Ubisoft’s license has come out on top, having offered an alternative in tribute to its beginnings, breaking the rhythm of the big open-world RPGs offered since a trilogy and its 2017 reboot.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series. If you’d like to find out more about the title, feel free to check out our complete review.
