Among the games that didn’t really need a remaster, Horizon Zero Dawn joins The Last of Us Part II. The existence of such a project wasn’t exactly a secret, but it was made official at the latest State of Play. Apart from its brick version, also shown during the showcase, Aloy returns with a native PS5 version of Guerrilla Games’ first opus.
Already a Beautiful Game With Even More Beautiful Stuff
The team responsible for this remaster is Nixxes, already working on the PC ports of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Ghost of Tsushima, and Horizon Forbidden West. We’re promised support for 3D Audio, haptic feedback, and DualSense adaptive triggers. For example, we’ll have small feedback in the controller near an element we can interact with. And, of course, you’ll also feel sensitive immersion during combat, infiltration, or platform sequences.
Textures and shaders will be enhanced, and character models refined. Plus, around 10 hours of conversations have been re-recorded, with mocap, reduced loading times, 4k, and plenty of other visual improvements to enhance a game that’s already looking good, even seven years after its release.
For the PC version, a PSN account will be required, which is likely to cause a buzz once again. Trophies can be unlocked via this platform, and there will be support for ultra-wide resolutions, NVIDIA DLSS 3, and AMD FSR 3.1 technologies. As for the PS5 Pro, of course, the game will be one of the productions taking advantage of Sony’s next console.
A Paid Upgrade for Game Owners
Finally, with such a remaster, the question of upgrades naturally arises for the owners of the PS4 versions. Well, whether you own Horizon Zero Dawn or its Complete Edition, on PS4 or PC, you’ll need to pay $9.99 for the digital remastered edition. We’d obviously have preferred it to be free, but TLOU Part II’s approach is the way forward. You can also upgrade if you purchased the first episode via the Play at Home service.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will arrive on PS5 and PC on October 31.
