StarWars.com has announced today that the Star Wars games will come together under one banner, and that will be Lucasfilm Games. where the company stated: “Lucasfilm Games is now the official identity for all gaming titles from Lucasfilm, a name that encompasses the company’s rich catalog of video games and its eye toward the future.”
This is a similar move to that made by Xbox Game Studios and PlayStation Studios, which each bring together several developers under one banner. The new Lucasfilm Games logo will be featured on all future Star Wars games. Here’s the ad below:
Lucasfilm Games has launched social channels on Twitter and Facebook, which will deliver breaking news and more directly to fans, but no new games have been announced as part of the announcement.
The name actually marks a return to the Lucasfilm Games brand that lasted throughout the 1980s (and introduced games such as Maniac Mansion, The Secret of Monkey Island, and more) until it was rebranded as LucasArts in 1990.
