Phil Spencer: Xbox is working as hard as they can to provide more Xbox Series X and S for players

In an interview with Major Nelson, Phil Spencer said that Xbox is working as hard as they can to provide more Xbox Series X and S for gamers, with shortages continuing to meet the high demand.

Summing up the year, Spencer said “We launched the consoles and wished we had more of them, we are selling out too quickly”. He resumed: “I get some people (asking): ‘ Why didn’t you create more? Why didn’t you start earlier? Why didn’t you ship them earlier? ‘ I mean, they ask me all these things, and it really comes down to physics and engineering”. And Spencer added: “We’re not holding them back, we’re making them as fast as we can, and we have all of the assembly lines working”.

Spencer mentioned that he recently called AMD’s Lisa Su (the company that manufactures the CPU and GPU for the new generation Xbox consoles) and asked: “how do we get more?”. Obviously, the team is working hard to deliver more consoles into the hands of players. Supply just simply cannot meet demand at the moment, so shortages are expected. Last year, Microsoft’s CFO said he expects supply to meet demand by spring 2021.
